 MATTHEW 6:11 · NIV

Give us today our daily bread.

 ISAIAH 58:6–7, 10 · NIV

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter — when you see the naked, to clothe them… then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

 EXODUS 16:4 · NIV

Then the Lord said to Moses, 'I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.'
